3 interlinked dramas with the connecting theme of the paddle steamer Devonia and Harry, who rises through the ranks from second officer to first officer to captain.

[b]1) The Beano[/b]: 1911 - To Celebrate coronation of George the Fifth, the entire staff of a Cheltenham department store go on a pleasure trip aboard Devonia along the Bristol Channel. One of the shop girls, Mercy, recognises Harry as her first love. Will she return to him, or marry Wilf, who plans to be an artist in Paris - even though he is also courting the boss's daughter?

[b]2) The Day Trip[/b]: 1925 - An obnoxious group of aristocratic young men and their girls make life misery for the scarred war hero who acts as their steward. When they arrive in port, one s missing.....

[b]3) Night Boat[/b]: 1936 - A mysterious group of people board the Devonia, using evidently false identities. What are they up to? Also on board is Mercy and her son Wilf Junior who have been to visit hr husband's grave. Can she and Wilf finally settle down together?
